IgG4-related disease (IgG4-RD) is a fibro-inflammatory disorder involving virtually every organ with a risk of organ dysfunction. Despite recent studies regarding B cell and T cell compartments, the disease’s pathophysiology remains poorly understood. We examined and characterized subsets of circulating lymphocytes in untreated patients with active IgG4-RD. Twenty-eight consecutive patients with biopsy-proven IgG4-RD were included in a prospective, multicentric study. Eosinophilic fasciitis (EF), first described by Shulman in 1974, is a rare disease characterized by fibrosis and inflammatory infiltration of the muscle fascia as well as scleroderma-like skin indurations and blood eosinophilia. Nonresponsiveness to HBsAg vaccination is observed in 5-10% of vaccine recipients and is possibly caused by a defect in the T helper cell compartment. The immune response to HBsAg is influenced by genes of the major histocompatibility complex. We have investigated MHC class I and class II antigens in 53 adult responders and 73 nonresponders. Results obtained in this first study were tested in a second study with 56 responders and 62 nonresponders from an infant vaccination trial. T helper cells can be defined by the cytokines they produce and are divided into Th1, Th2, Th17, T(FH) or regulatory T cells. Th17 cells have been shown to produce, in addition to IL-17, IL-22. In the current issue of the European Journal of Immunology, an article by Larsen et al. (Eur. J.
